Horse Shows

Ballyhigh clients compete at local and USEF rated horse show throughout the Midwest. The horse show schedule at the stable accommodates all levels of riders. Locally riders show at local farm shows, Lakeside Arena, Masterson Station, and the Kentucky Horse Park. USEF shows include the numerous shows at the Kentucky Horse Park and shows in Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Georgia, Florida, and other locations in Kentucky.

Lesson horses are available for students to show at local shows. Other horses are available for lease for those who want to become more serious. Clients are encouraged to show their own horses.

Ballyhigh also hosts many shows at the farm. There are schooling shows for hunters and jumpers as well as KHJA local rated shows. Every October, the stable holds the Ballyhigh Classic. This show is KHJA rated and is held over two days. Saturday is hunter day and features the Ballyhigh Memorial Classic and the Lynn Davis Equitation Challenge.

The Ballyhigh Memorial Classic is a favorite among exhibitors. It is a class done in memory of Joyce's horse, Ballyhigh. The class consists of a hunter course done over an outside course, a handy hunter round, and an under saddle phase. The winner receives a cooler and $100. It is open to amateurs and juniors only.

The jumper day of the Ballyhigh Classic is fun and relaxing. The day is topped off by the Veterinarian Challenge class. The class is open to veterinarians, family members, and staff of the local veterinarian clinics. The winning clinic receives a trophy and bragging rights.

Ballyhigh IEA Team

Ballyhigh Show Stable hosts an IEA Team for middle school and high school students. The Interscholastic Equestrian Association was developed for youth to experience team competition. Beginners to advanced riders compete on the team. Riders draw a number for the horse they will compete on the day of the show. Competitors are judged on equitation. Points are accumulated throughout the year and riders may advance to regionals, zones, or nationals. The team also hosts a show each winter.
